NNPC recruitment: Shortlisting of candidates commences

The Phase One of the ongoing recruitment exercise by the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) which kicked off via nationwide advertisements in the national dailies and online media on Wednesday, 13 March, 2019 ended midnight Tuesday with the closure of the corporation’s application portal.
A statement on Wednesday in Abuja by the corporation’s Group General Manager, Group Public Affairs Division, Ndu Ughamadu, said the Second Phase of the exercise which involves shortlisting of qualified candidates had started.

Mr. Ughamadu said that tests would be administered in about 50 centres across the country, saying those who emerge successful in the tests would subsequently be invited for oral interviews for final selection.
NNPC, an equal opportunity employer in the oil and gas industry value chain, including exploration, refining, transportation and marketing of petroleum products, recently placed advertisements to recruit some categories of new hands to buoy its operations nationwide.
These are: Graduate Trainee; Senior Officer and Supervisory Cadre; and Managerial Cadre.

Customs begins recruitment of 3,200 officers, men

The Comptroller General of Customs (CGC), Col. Hameed Ali (rtd), has said the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) will by 12:00am of Wednesday, open its portal for the recruitment of 3,200 officers and men to fill existing vacancies which will last for the next three weeks.
Col. Ali, who was represented by the acting Deputy Comptroller General (DCG), Human Resources Development, Sanusi Umar, during a briefing at the NCS headquarters in Abuja on Tuesday, said the recruitment exercise got the approval of the Federal Executive Council (FEC) and is in compliance with requirements of the Federal Character Commission (FCC).
We are actively engaged with the Commission to ensure that the process will earn a certificate of compliance on merit,” he noted.

Further explaining the process, he said the recruitment will be conducted to fill 800 space in the Support Staff for Superintendent Cadre category, while the 2,400 space will go for Customs Inspector and Customs Assistant Cadre in the General Duty category.


To properly inform the public, he said the information is being carried by seven national dailies from today while a web portal for applications has been created as a sub-domain of the NCS website.

He gave the sub-site to be www.vacancy.customs.gov.ng adding that it will be opened for three weeks.
While it assured of a hitch-free process during the three week period of the online application submission, NCS said, “We are determined to conduct an exercise that is credible, fair and transparent. We will deploy all machineries within our powers to ensure that the integrity of the exercise is not compromised.”
It warned members of the public to beware of fraudsters and criminals who may be operating illegal sites and portals and collect money from applicants.
“I want to reiterate that the portal for this exercise can only be accessed through the official service website where NO FEES will be demanded,” Ali noted.

PDP leads in Kano after INEC declares results of 43 out of 44 LGAs

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has taken the lead in Kano state as the results of Saturday’s governorship election from 43 out of the 44 LGAs in the state were presented by the INEC Returning Officer at the state collation centre early Monday.
Abba Kabir Yusuf of the PDP is contesting against the incumbent governor and candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Abdullahi Umar Ganduje.

Currently, PDP now polled 960,004 votes as against APC’s 953,522 votes.
Thus, PDP is leading with a margin of 6,482 votes in the state.

Only that of Nasarawa local government area is yet to be presented, our reporter observed.
The session has gone on break to resume by 4am for continuation of the collation exercise.

BREAKING: Gov Masari’s mother-in-law, Hauwa kidnapped

Hajiya Hauwa Yusuf, a mother-in-law to Katsina state governor, Aminu Masari, has been reportedly kidnapped at her residence located at Dandume crescent in Katsina layout of the metropolis.
Aged 80 years, Hauwa is the mother to Binta Masari, one of the three wives of the governor.
Information which is still sketchy as at press time says, the abductors armed with weapons and wearing masks on their faces stormed the said residence at about 3am on Friday, broke into the house and took her away.
Some members of the house were thoroughly beaten just as mobile telephones were carted away.
Already, sympathisers have besieged the residence lamenting and discussing the incident just as security personnel were spotted gathering information.
The police are yet to make comments on the incident despite repeated reach out to the spokesman of the command, SP Gambo Isah.
